Choma Waterfalls are one of the lesser-known cascades on the green foothills of Kilimanjaro, an alternative for travellers who want a waterfall walk without the steady stream of visitors at busier spots. Set among forest and small farms, the falls tumble through a leafy gorge into a cool pool, fed by streams running off the mountain.

The appeal is the quiet and the scenery. A guided walk leads down through cultivated slopes and patches of native forest, with birdsong, butterflies, and glimpses of the surrounding hills, to the falls themselves. How a Visit Works

Choma Waterfalls are reached by road from Moshi onto Kilimanjaro’s lower slopes, followed by a guided walk with a local guide and a small community fee. It is an easy half-day outing for most reasonably active visitors. Sturdy shoes are useful, and it can be combined with Materuni and Chemka for a fuller day on the mountain’s foothills.
