Gombe offers the same wild-chimp magic as Mahale with a unique scientific legacy, more easily and affordably reached via Kigoma. The treks can be steep and chimp sightings, while likely, aren't guaranteed. It's still genuinely off the beaten track — most visitors are real chimp enthusiasts, which is part of its charm.
