Quality medical care exists in the region, but serious cases may need evacuation to a major hospital or home. Flights, lodges and park fees are largely non-refundable, so cancellation cover protects your investment too.
Check the altitude limit on your policy. A standard travel policy often won’t cover trekking above ~3,000–4,000 m — you may need a specialist or add-on policy for the summit at 5,895 m.
