Top parks, when to go, getting around, visas and where a first Tanzania safari should begin.
Tanzania is our home. It holds the Serengeti and the Great Migration, the wildlife amphitheatre of the Ngorongoro Crater, elephant-rich Tarangire, the roof of Africa on Kilimanjaro, and the beaches of Zanzibar — often in a single trip.
| Destination | Known for | Best months |
|---|---|---|
| Serengeti | Great Migration, big cats, endless plains | Year-round (migration moves) |
| Ngorongoro Crater | Dense Big Five in a collapsed caldera | June–October |
| Tarangire | Huge elephant herds, baobabs | June–October |
| Lake Manyara | Tree-climbing lions, flamingos | June–October |
| Nyerere & Ruaha (south) | Wild, uncrowded, walking & boating | June–October |
| Kilimanjaro | Africa’s highest peak (5,895 m) | Jan–Mar, June–Oct |
| Zanzibar | Beaches, Stone Town, diving | June–October, Dec–Feb |
The dry season (June–October) is the easiest time for game viewing and the classic window for Mara River crossings in the northern Serengeti and for climbing Kilimanjaro. The green season (January–March) brings the Serengeti calving and excellent predator action. See Best Time to Visit.
Most safaris begin in Arusha, reached via Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). Internal bush flights link the parks and Zanzibar quickly; road transfers are scenic and cost-effective on the northern circuit. Full detail in Getting There & Flights.
Most visitors need a visa (e-visa or on arrival) and proof of yellow fever vaccination if arriving from a risk country. See Visa & Entry and Health & Safety.
Tarangire → Ngorongoro Crater → Serengeti over 6–8 days, then 3–4 nights in Zanzibar. We’ll tailor it to your dates and budget.
