Serengeti Migration Safari

Follow the greatest wildlife show on Earth across the Serengeti — we position you in the right zone for the month you travel.

Experience Guide

The Serengeti migration is a year-round circuit, not a single event. Roughly two million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle move clockwise through the ecosystem chasing the rains and fresh grazing, so the only question that matters is where they are in the month you travel — and we build your route around exactly that.

From the southern calving grounds in the early year to the western corridor mid-year and the dramatic northern river crossings from July, the herds are always somewhere worth being. Camps positioned in the right seasonal zone — often mobile camps that relocate — put you closest to the action.

How It Unfolds

Plan
Pick the right zone

We match your Serengeti sector to the migration's monthly position.

AM
Track the columns

Long morning drives follow the herds and read the landscape.

Midday
Rest at camp

Down through the heat, often with the herds grazing nearby.

PM
Predator hours

Lion and cheetah shadow the herds into golden light.

Is It Worth It?

The migration is reliable as a phenomenon but unpredictable in detail — exact timing shifts each year with the rains. Travel with a flexible mindset and stay at least two nights in the right zone. River crossings in particular reward patience and the right camp; we'll tell you honestly what your dates can deliver.

Good to Know

  • The herds' location changes monthly — timing is everything
  • Mobile camps follow the migration for closest access
  • Two-plus nights in the right zone is ideal
  • Crossings can never be guaranteed

Before You Book

Where will the migration be when I travel?
+
We position you by month: southern plains (Jan–Mar), central/western (Apr–Jun), northern Serengeti for crossings (Jul–Oct), returning south (Nov–Dec).
Is a mobile camp better for the migration?
+
Often, yes — camps that relocate with the herds keep you closest to the action without long drives.
How many days do I need?
+
Five to eight, with at least two nights in the correct seasonal zone to give the herds and crossings time.
Will I see a river crossing?
+
Only realistically July–October in the north, and never guaranteed — they depend on rain and herd mood. We maximise your odds.
